The brief for this impressive Georgian property in Kensington was to create an open-plan home for a vibrant young family; spotlighting traditional architectural features and cohesively mixing in more contemporary modern elements. We worked closely with the clients across the breadth of the project executing the full spectrum of work in house; from Architectural, spatial design and project management, through into the interiors – including the specification of decorative lighting and bespoke furniture.
Works included a loft extension and installation of full width dormer, lower ground floor front and rear extensions, and a comprehensive reconfiguration to optimise both the internal and external floor plan. This extended space allowed us to create a generous open plan kitchen and living room to the lower ground floor, a double aspect formal living room and large terrace to the ground floor, and a luxurious master suite to the first floor.
A warm, light filled interior is illustrated by a mix of tactile natural materials such as timber, softly veined marble, plaster and textured fabrics. This softness sits in striking contrast to splashes of colourful art and furniture, and the graphic bronze and black of the lighting, ironmongery, and fixtures throughout. The majority of the project was entirely bespoke; from custom fireplaces, cabinetry and kitchen through to the fully landscaped terrace and garden. The result is a truly singular home.
Works included the excavation of a basement under the entire footprint of the property, a rear and 2nd-floor rear extension and a comprehensive internal reconfiguration. This extended space allowed us to create a generous kitchen and formal living room on the ground floor and add a large open-plan family room, playroom and office to the basement.
